There was merrymaking and celebration at the Namuka Village hall in Nakelo on Saturday night.

This was after hundreds of family members and friends gathered to celebrate Miss Vodafone Hibiscus 2014, Miss Apco Coating’s, Nanise Rainima’s achievement.

The 2014 Hibiscus Kings and Queens contestants were also there to celebrate with her.

An emotional Miss Rainima said she would have not been able to achieve the crown if it wasn’t the support of her family especially her parents.

“My family has played a major role in my achievement and I thank everyone that has helped me be the woman I am today, especially God,” Miss Rainima said.

“I believe God has a plan for me and everything happened for a reason. I thank my father and mother for everything they have done for me and all my relatives that have contributed in my upbringing.

She had only wished that her paternal grandparents who had passed away could be there to witness her achievement.

Bau high chief Ratu Epenisa Cakobau said Miss Rainima would have not been able to achieve what she had achieved if it wasn’t for God.

Miss Rainima’s mother is from the chiefly island of Bau and a niece to Ratu Epenisa.

“I thank God for everything he has done because no one dreamed about it, no one thought about it but it was God’s way of surprising us for Nanise to be Miss Hibiscus one day,” Ratu Epenisa said.

Ratu Epenisa could not contain his emotions when he said that only two faces were visible in his mind after Nanise’s name was announced the winner.

The two are Ratu Eliki and Tabaiwalu, who are Nanise’s mother’s brothers who have also passed away.

He said he had only wished they were there to celebrate with Nanise.
