New Zealand vocalist, Rebecca Petterson Nabouta has called on local environmentalists to be part of the 2nd annual Tagimoucia Festival at Wairiki, Taveuni.

The festival staged as a celebration of Fiji’s music, dance, arts and cultural heritage – is a fundraiser to help conserve, protect, and clean up our beautiful Fiji islands.

Sassy, as she is commonly known in the music circle, is a soul vocalist /tutor/ composer/ lead singer and songwriter is lobbying for protecting the environment.

“It has a right message for a good cause to clean up Taveuni. If you go there you will see a lot of rubbish like hidden underneath the water,” said Ms Nabouta.

“It’s hard to recycle there; they really need to educate also to create a system and send message to create around recycling. That will also clean up the whole island with those projects; will create art from the rubbish their collect.”

Other dance group includes VOU, Masti Bollywood, Paradise Star Dance, including the Ocean Ambassadors and free workshops, sporting events, open mic, and food.

The two- day event kicks off this Friday.
