The Land Transport Authority (LTA) sealed a deal with R.B. Patel Group last week to be a corporate partner to help keep Fiji roads safe and accident free.

The sponsorship will allow LTA to use R.B. Patel’s supermarket’s LED screen to promote its message of road safety and to promote all LTA road safety TV commercials.

LTA spokesperson, Iliesa Sokia said they believed it would boost the message visibility especially to pedestrians, motorists and passengers.

“All road users will be able to view it because it is strategically located next to the road and since it’s big in size, it’s visible from afar, so if you are a driver, passenger or a pedestrian you will not miss it; especially when it captures a captivated audience, and that is the strategy LTA is implementing,” Mr Sokia said.

He said even though these are old messages and a lot of times people do not really practice it whilst driving or walking, it’s good to always remind people again and again.

“Because we believe people are aware of it, but need to be reminded again, it’s human nature.”

Part of the deal also allows LTA to conduct its road safety road shows, awareness and public outreach at any R.B. Patel premises.

“LTA is grateful to use this campaign medium as an avenue to boost its road safety campaigns; the free avenue will widen the reach and increase the number of people expected to be impacted,” Mr Sokia said.

“R.B. Patel Chief Executive Officer Deepak Rathod said they are extremely delighted to partner with LTA in trying to promote safety on Fiji roads.

LTA is also expected to sign three more corporate sponsorships this week with three local based companies as part of their corporate social responsibility.
