The annual Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Wives and Mothers Club Sports tournament is all about celebrating the spirit and values of community.

These were the sentiments echoed by the  club’s president Salote Tavainavesi at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.

Tavainavesi said the annual meet would end today.

She said it was the best opportunity for the  wives to converge and socialise.

“It’s a time when the wives and mothers come together and just enjoy each others’ company, and make new friends,” Tavainavesi said.

“It’s a sign of togetherness, unity and community. We always look forward to it because of the chance to just meet.

“We’ve got two days of netball and volleyball games.

“We also managed to conduct our annual general meeting (AGM), which took place on Thursday evening, so we are progressing very well.”

Tavainavesi confirmed the finals would be held today with the awards night scheduled for the evening.

The tournament ends with a church service tomorrow.
