Bligh Waters Shipping Cakaudrove has secured their spot in the final after beating Ra in the 2014 Telecom B-Division semifinal yesterday at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori. They will face Malolo in the finals after Malolo beat Naitasiri Bulls 19-13.

What happened: Both teams came well prepared and put up a good show for the fans. Kameli Lilo and Vereta Bolaniwaqa of Ra were key players in defence.

In the ninth minute a penalty was awarded to Cakaudrove which was kicked by Kitione Kamikamica to lead 3-0.

Ra found it difficult to hold off men from the North which resulted in a try just before halftime to Jovesa Qutei in the 27th minute

And another try four minutes later to Viliame Tuiwai gave Cakaudrove a comfortable 13-0 lead. Ra managed to kick a penalty to Joni Koroi. Halftime: Cakaudrove 13-3 Ra.

Ra came back more composed in the second spell making some solid defence. Cakaudrove tested the Ra defence and a lot of handling errors by both teams prevented them from capitalising on the opportunities. Cakaudrove finally sealed the deal in the 69th minute with a try from Akuila Sivinia with a successful conversion from Kamikamica for the final score 20-3.

Star turn: Ilai Koroitamana, Vereta Bolaniwaqa and team captain Atunaisa Laulau helped Ra keep Cakaudrove from scoring more tries.

Big Play: Akuila Sivinia from Cakaudrove cruised past the Ra defenders to score the final try of the game.

Comments: Cakaudrove manager Taraiyasi Wara said, “It’s a good feeling to have made it into the finals where we will face Malolo, we have only been training for a month and to have qualified for the finals is such a surprise. We want to thank our sponsors Bligh Waters Shipping, the Roko Tui of Cakaudrove and the Tui Cakau for supporting us and being the backbone of the team. We look forward to the final and we will hope to give Malolo a good run.
