TheFijiFirst manifesto has already begun to generate positive feedback amongst voters. More than 100 people on Friday night attended the FijiFirst campaign in Saweni Lautoka and have applauded the initiatives in the document.

This was evident when the party general secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum explained the policies developed by the party.

FijiFirst supporters said the manifesto was one that addressed all the major issues which other political parties had forgotten about, setting itself as a role model.

Nazreen Bano, 40, said she was happy with the new welfare allowance that had increased to $50 a month.

“Another good thing about the welfare system as highlighted by Mr Sayed-Khaiyum is that the eligibility age will be reduced from 68 to 66 in the coming years,’’ she said.

Ms Bano said apart from this initiative, FijiFirst would provide free medicine for diabetics and high blood pressure patients who were earning below $20,000.

She said this was great relief for elderly people who had to dig deep into their pockets to buy medicine.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum further highlightedconcessions on electricity and water bills to assist lower income families.

Currently, the Bainimarama Government provides electricity subsidy of 17 cents per unit for up to 75 kilowatts which will be increased to 85 kw from next year.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum was accompanied by party candidates Mohammed Mursalinul Abe Dean and Faiyaz Siddiq Koya.

The manifesto was launched by the party leader Voreqe Bainimarama on Friday in Nadi.
