The Commander of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga yesterday thanked the families, wives and children of soldiers for helping protect Fiji since 2006.

He made the acknowledgement during the Army Wives and Mothers Inter-Unit Tournament thanksgiving service at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua.

Brigadier-General Tikoitoga said the support from home helped strengthened the military’s stance for building a better Fiji in the past seven years.

“I want to thank each and every family for your perseverance in the long journey that we have travelled since 2006. You,the army wives are the ones who really knew the difficulties we face, our families were sworn at, we were ridiculed and some soldiers lost their lives for doing what we knew would improve Government and our nation,” Brigadier-General Tikoitoga said.

He reminded the families that this duty would finally come to an end when the election finishes off next week.

“I know sometimes it got hard and we thought of giving up. It’s only right that we thank ourselves especially our wives and mothers for all the work that we have done so far,” he said.

Meanwhile, RFMF chaplain, Major Reverend JosefaTikonatabua while delivering his sermon reassured families of the 45 captured soldiers that it would be alright.

“At times we will face challenges in our lives but look at the positive side, don’t lose faith,” Rev Tikonatabua said.
