The Shree Sanatan Dharam Brahman Purohit Sabha of Fiji organised a prayer session yesterday afternoon for the safe release of the 45 Fijian United Nations peacekeepers detained by al-Nusra group in Syria.

The prayer coincided with Fathers Day at the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Luke Street, Nabua to remember all the fathers detained in Syria.

During the beginning of the prayer session president pundit Vinod Shandil said “our prayers are with the soldiers and their families.”

“Our prayers are with the soldiers and we seek God’s blessing on them to keep them safe,” he said.

“We pray for their wellbeing and safe release so that they can come back to their families.”

Pundit Shandil said the soldiers worked hard to ensure everyone’s security and it was time for all individuals to come together and pray as one.

“We had a ‘Hanuman Chalisa” and prayed for our soldiers, we know there is a lot of tension going on but we just pray that nothing happens to them,” he said.

“The nation has come together at this time to pray for all and we are hopeful that our soldiers would return home safe and sound.”
