Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama thanked the acting Commissioner Northern and the heads of the department in the North for responding to people’s issues in order to improve their livelihood.

He said this while commissioning the Dreketi Water Project in Dreketi Village in Cakaudrove on Monday.

He praised the villagers for raising $10,000 on their contribution to ensure they had access to clean and safe drinking water.

“The other $18,000 was given by Government for the completion of the project,” Mr Bainimarama said. “I thank all those who helped in the completion of the project and this will help improve the lives of people in the village. You invested your hard-earned dollars in your community, in each other. This is the spirit that will take Fiji forward.”

Village headman Apenisa Vaniqi thanked Government for their support.

“We are so happy that this project is completed and we are now receiving water right in our homes,” he said.
