The National Federation Party has again boasted they are the only party that does not support the coup culture or anyone who is involved in a coup.

Dickie Bird said NFP leader Dr Biman Prasad and president Tupou Draunidalo appear to be still having a memory blank on what had happened in 1999.

Then NFP had formed a coalition with the Soqosoqo Vakavulewa Ni Taukei Party (SVT) to contest the general election.

The SVT was led by Sitiveni Rabuka, the man who started the country’s coup culture and the suffering which led so many people to leave Fiji.

Labour pains

The move by Fiji Labour Party candidates to appoint a new leader to lead them to the September 17 general elections seemed to have fizzled out.

Dickie Bird was told this could prove costly for the party as they are going to lose their supporters who are disappointed that their candidates do not have the guts to fight on and see Mahendra Chaudhry replaced.

Waste of time

Dickie Bird said a church steward surprised his friends when he remarked that attending the recent Methodist Church conference was a waste of time.

Dickie Bird said his friends urged him to say why was it so?

The steward remarked: “We spend almost half of the time talking about politics.”
