The Nadogo Under-12 team ended their 39-year winless jinx yesterday.        This was after they beat Ba 3-1 during the 39th CJ Patel Fiji Primary Schools Inter-District Championship at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

The Northerners were on cloud nine after winning their first grade since the competition started.

Nadogo defeated Ba following a penalty shootout.

The team assistant coach, Praneel Haran said being one of the furthest travelling team, they were impressed with their boys’ performances.

“The boys have gone through a lot of challenges and we salute them for their dedication and sacrifice,” Haran said.

“Despite the lack of development programmes in the North, our players were able to rise to the occasion and proved themselves too.” Meanwhile,  Ba U12 coach Arveen Chand said his side had most possessions but Nadogo played well defensively.

“We thank the players and parents for their support,” Chand said.
