Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had a special visitor among the hundreds of Lami residents that thronged the RB Patel carpark in Suvavou on Thursday night.

Leone-CabenatabuaThis visitor came all the way from Naitasiri to meet the PM and thanked him personally that they now have power supply in the village.

Turning to the big crowd, this Naitasiri elder said villages in Naitasiri have been neglected for so long until the last six to eight years. “If you are from Naitasiri, let’s thank the PM in the way we know best – that is to shout,” he said.

Plan For  Front

What’s this ‘One Year Plan’ code thing? Well, Dickie Bird was told this was the plan adopted by the so-called United Front for a Democratic Fiji to work together for this one year with the mission to do whatever they can to topple the FijiFirst Party in next Wednesday’s general election.

The political parties involved were Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA), Fiji Labour Party (FLP) and National Federation Party (NFP).

No Methodist

Certain Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) candidates have been mixing religion with politics. In one of their campaign CDs, they took each party leader’s candidate number and referred it to the Methodist Church hymn book where they used the lyrics as a sort of prophecy.

Dickie Bird said what made matters worse is that the candidate leading the exercise is not a member of the Methodist Church of Fiji.

Losing ways

Even before the September 17 general election takes place, some anti-government bloggers living abroad are giving excuses on why things won’t work their way. They have started to lay the blame on the system. Dickie Bird said this suggests they expect to lose.
