The Telecom Fijiana side started their IRB Women’s Sevens World Series 2014/2015 qualifiers on a high note in Hong Kong yesterday.

The Iliesa Tanivula-coached side walloped Argentina 52-7 in their first game, thumped Kenya 45-0 in their second pool game before defeating Japan 33-7 in their final pool game at Shek Kip Mei Sports Ground in Kowloon.  Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan said the girls played well in all their pool games.

“They played good quality rugby as they have a quality coach and our girls combining well,”Ryan said.  “They have done brilliantly well against Argentina and Kenya. Against Japan I thought it was a tough match knowing Japan are always dominant in rugby but our girls gave them a good game.” Ryan believes the hard work of our Telecom Fijiana side is showing off.  They had a tough preparation period allowing great results.

Of the 12 teams only four teams will secure a place in the 2014/2015 IRB Women’s Sevens World Series.
