The Ministry of Health is working closely with a multi-agency group to help prevent the Ebola virus from entering Fiji.

Ministry media officer Sunil Chandra said quarantine officers were members of the multi-agency group stationed at the Suva and Lautoka wharves and the Nadi and Nausori airports would screen travelers before they entered Fiji.

“The group includes other stakeholders working together to prevent the disease from entering Fiji,” Mr Chandra said.

He said the risk of Ebola was low in Fiji and they urge people to declare to authorities at the ports of entry if they were sick so that they could be checked.
