An 18-year-old-boy found an unattended baby crying near his home in Korotogo, Sigatoka over the weekend.

This was confirmed by the Police divisional media liaison officer west, Naina Ragigia.

“The boy was cleaning his compound when he heard a baby crying on the other side of the fence.

The boy climbed a tree in his compound to find out where the crying sounds was coming from,” Ms Ragigia said.

According to Ms Ragigia, he then went on to the other side and picked up the baby which was wrapped in a “sulu”.

“The matter was then reported to Police by the boy’s parents and the baby was taken to the Sigatoka Police station,” she said.

“The doctors are conducting tests to determine the age of the baby,” she said.

She said residents of the area have been questioned by Police on the matter and investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, all of the five tourists involved in a Sigatoka Safari accident have been discharged from the Suva Private Hospital.

It has been confirmed by Police that all the passengers are in stable condition and the captain of the boat will be questioned by Police today.

The incident occurred near Tubairata Village, along the Sigatoka River last week.
