Duo Red-Carded In Nadi

Shop N Save Nadi and Labasa played to a scoreless draw in their Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League match at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last night.

The Nadi fans had hopes for the side that beat Lautoka at the same venue last Thursday night and bank on Suva to beat Ba at Govind Park last Saturday so the jetsetters could book a spot in the O-League next year.

Labasa finished the season in fourth spot with 21 points while Suva leads the points table with 33 points, ahead of Ba, 25, Nadi, 23,  and Rewa with 18 points.

What happened:

Referee Ravitesh Behari flashed two red cards for unprofessional conduct as both teams failed to entertain the fans.

In the 64th minute Nadi was reduced to 10-men after defender Ame Votoniu was sent off for the foul on Sandeep Nair.

Four minutes later Labasa was also reduced to 10 men as Nair saw red for unprofessional conduct on Rahul Krishna.

Star Plus:

Labasa goalkeeper Epeli Loaniceva played a man of the match performance in goal.

Big play:

Nadi defender Lekima Gonerau saved the day for Nadi on many occasions.

Comments:

Nadi team director Javed Ahmed said, “We had a lot of chances to score but we missed. We just hope that we beat Lautoka while Suva beats Ba for us to be in contention for the O-League.”

Labasa coach Pita Baleitoga said, “We played three matches in four days and fatigue caught up with the boys.”
