The TFL chief executive officer made the comment after welcoming the victorious Telecom Fijians 7s team at Nadi International Airport yesterday.

And he promised more support for the Iliesa Tanivula-coached team after winning the IRB Women Sevens World Series qualifier in Hong Kong over the weekend. Fijiana beat France 24-19 in the final.

“The main reason we sponsored them is because we trust that they will perform to expectations,” DeSilva said.

“They were very consistent and the victory in Hong Kong reinforces our commitment to the team.”

“We will support in any way we can, as we believe Fijiana can fare well or better than the Vodafone Fiji 7s team.”

He said they would work with the Fiji Rugby Union to achieve the best for the team.

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer Radrodro Tabualevu applauded the effort of Fijiana.

He said like the Vodafone Flying Fijians and the Vodafone Fiji 7s team, Telecom Fijiana just proved that they were another winning product for Fiji Rugby.

“Hopefully, in the future we can look after our girls and we will be going to go out to the community and ask for their support.”
