“At first it was good then as we headed towards the second turning point the waves were pretty strong.

“This is a new experience for me as I only swim in the 500m and 1km race in the past.

“I just kept swimming and I made sure that I was close to the first and second swimmer and I’m happy that I came third.

Meanwhile, Mana Island Resort general manager Ulrich Hoffgen was proud of the swimmers.

“It is good to see the swimmers come out in numbers,”he said.

Hoffgen thanked the management for making the two- day event possible.

“I’joined the resort recently and I don’t know what I would have done without the management in organising of the event.

“The event has been an ongoing initiative by the hotel and I’m very thankful to the team for making it possible for the swimmers,” he said.
