Fiji Airways has already highlighted the financial implications where it did not make any money from flights to Honiara via Port Vila and were just break even.

Fiji Airways managing director/chief executive, Stefan Pichler, said the suspension of these flights has now enabled them to fly Nadi-Port Vila with an ATR 72-600 instead of a Boeing 737.

“This is great news because we operate the ATR 72 with lower cost,” he said.

“So the suspension of those flights to Honiara will increase our profitability on the route Port Vila to Nadi.”
