Buying a new car but then only after a few weeks, getting a dent because of someone else’s negligence is not less than a nightmare for any vehicle owner.

Firstly, it spoils the look of the vehicle and secondly, if you decide to get it fixed, the cost of repair might be quite an expensive affair as you have to take it to a body shop.

But Smartfix, a company which does paintless dent removal, has just opened up in the country and has promised quick and cost-effective way of dent removal.

Company director, Michael Cross, said Smartfix is basically a mobile workshop where they go to the customer and not the other way around.

Customers can call on 8096792 to arrange.

“For the first time in Fiji, car owners can have their small dents removed quickly and cheaply,” he said.

“Our process is very environmentally-friendly and green as we use no paint or body fillers in our process.”

Mr Cross said the charges for their spot dent removals are around one third of traditional body shop prices and can be done in a matter of hours instead of days or weeks.

Setting up business

Mr Cross, based in Australia, said he invested close to $100,000 in setting up the business.

“We had to fly our technician to Australia for intensive training in our company for a year and then we had to purchase the tools etc,” he said.

“It has taken us over a year to set up this business in Suva. We also have a local Fijian solicitor who is a shareholder and partner in Smartfix.”

About Smartfix

Mr Cross said their parent company, Smart Repair in Australia, has worked in various countries like USA, Europe, New Zealand for some of the world’s largest car insurance companies and dealerships.

He said in Fiji, they have been asked to service some major car dealerships which they have already begun thus week.
