Lions Served

With their motto “We Serve” the Lions Club of Labasa was served on Thursday after TOTAL Fiji Limited donated $200,000 to the club.
Club president Subhash Chandra said the club was indeed grateful to the company, TOTAL Fiji Ltd for their generous sponsorship as it had helped them carry their social and corporate responsibilities
“This was a sponsorship amount coming our way to help us in our non-communicable disease awareness and outreach programmes” Mr Chandra said.
“This involves carrying out diabetes, blood pressure, body mass index and cholesterol checkups for members of the public at various intervals during the course of the year,” he added.
Mr Chandra said the Lions Club of Labasa was part of the International Association of Lions Club and had been involved in numerous community projects in Labasa over the years.
“This includes aiding the elderly, the destitute and the underprivileged and the annual Sight First Project is also another major project of the club whereby the club gets doctors from New Zealand as well as the Pacific Eye Institute to carry out eye check-ups, medication and glasses distribution and cataract operations which benefits hundreds of people in Labasa” Mr Chandra said.
“This project should be under way soon and is sponsored by Vodafone ATH Foundation and it is through the efforts and sponsorship of such corporate organisations that the club is able to carry out its numerous projects,” he said.
This is the first donation from Total Fiji Ltd to the club.
