Fiji Hotel & Tourism Association has secured support from Vodafone Fiji to deliver the HOTEC Trade Show after a lapse of four years.

Vodafone became the event’s Gold sponsors after pledging its $20,000 Gold Sponsor support both in cash and kind to the association executives at the Vodafone head office yesterday.

Association president, Dixon Seeto said such support would help deliver one of the industry’s biggest hotel and tourism trade show.

The event is scheduled for the October 29-31st of October 2014 at Sofitel Resort and Spa on Denarau.

Bringing people together

Mr Seeto said: “The most important thing is to bring people to the HOTEC show and so we anticipate a lot more partnership as a result of the partnering with the Chefs Association and the Barista Competition.”

He encouraged members of the public to attend the show which was supportive in driving the industry forward with new and innovative ideas.

And as such, Vodafone’s support was clear indication of this.

“In today’s business world especially in our industry we are always on the cutting edge of technology and methods and procedure. So communication is a very important part of our business. And we’re very happy to have Vodafone which is at the forefront of communication and technology with all this products to partner with us.”

Vodafone chief commercial officer, Ronald Prasad: “ICT is regarded as integral components in the hotel and tourism industry and Vodafone has been instrumental in providing an array of ICT solutions to the industry.

“Vodafone will not only deliver the cash component of its support but also provide free wifi for those within the vicinity of the show.

“Today, every tourist who comes into Fiji carries a smartphone and a tablet. Hotel and Tourism operators make a large base of our clientele and an important ingredient in the successful partnership.”

Meanwhile, Mr Seeto said main reason for four-year lapse was due uneconomic reasons.
