Back To Work For Dr Eci

Come tomorrow, it is back to work for National Federation Party candidate, Dr Adi Eci Nabalarua.

With official results still coming in from the National Tally Centre in Suva, Adi Eci was unable to get the numbers required in the 2014 general election to get her into parliament.

As of yesterday at 6pm, after the counting of 1483 polling stations out of 2025, she polled only 379 votes.

Adi Eci who is the Dean of College of Humanities and Education comprising the Schools of Education, Communication, Language and Literature, Social Sciences and Creative Arts took leave without pay from the Fiji National University when she decided to join NFP.

Adi Eci confirmed yesterday that she would resume work from Monday at the university.

“I had taken leave without pay from work and my leave expired on Friday 19. So yes, I will go back to my normal business from Monday,” Adi Eci said.

She described her journey as a good experience when she entered politics and throughout the campaigns.

“This was my first time and it had been a good experience for me so far,” she said.

“I decided to enter politics because I just wanted to contribute to the country in a meaningful manner and I had received wonderful support from my supporters as well as my family.”

She said she would accept the election results as the people have spoken through their votes.

“The voters have spoken and I would accept that decision so basically we have to put our head up and down for the next four years and hope that the Government would continue to do good work.”

As for the now, Dr Eci would be putting down her election experience into paper.

“This is the beauty of being an academic where I would be able to pen down my experience throughout this election journey and for the next six months I would be reflecting on my experience before making any immediate commitment.”

She remains undecided about contesting the next election.

Dr Adi Eci’s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration,  Masters in Rural and Social Development  and a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD in Public Administration)
