The Handy Finance Naitasiri North Bulls tasted top flight provincial rugby at the Ra Sports Ground in Rakiraki yesterday.

The Telecom B Division champion went down 3-34 to BLK Nadroga during the fourth HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge.

Fielding their second string team, the Stallions still proved too strong.

The Stallions face Tebara Bus Tailevu this Saturday while Naitasiri North plays Lautoka in the 2014 FRU promotions/relegation.

What happened:

Esala Naivori scored Nadroga’s first try which was not converted by Ratunaisa Vatuinaruku.

In the 33rd minute the Bulls bridged the gap with a penalty.

In the 38th minute loose-man Ulaiasi Lawavou scored for  Nadroga to lead 10 -3 at halftime.

Nadroga came back strongly in the second spell which resulted in a pushover try to Ratu Penijamini Makutu in the 43rd minute which was converted by Ratunaisa Vatuinaruku, 17-3.

In the 50th minute inside centre Samu Cava scored and extended the lead 24-3.

In the 66th minute Nacori scored his second try for the Stallions to lead 29-3.

In the 76th minuter Ratunaisa Narukutabua sealed the win after a poor clearance from Lepani Nabuliwaqa.

Star turn:

New find winger Esala Nacori scored two tries in each half.

Big play:

Nadroga tight-five played well led by Rat Penijami Makutu.

Comments:

Nadroga captain Etonia Naba said: “We had a mixture of old and young players and we expected Naitasiri to be tough.

Naitasiri North captain Ilaitia Rocavasiga said: “It was a tough and difficult game. The boys have played to their ability but we have learnt a lot from Nadroga. We thank our sponsors and fans for their support.”
