Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan was impressed with the performance of his 24 players at the 2014 Pacific Energy Ovalau 7s tournament yesterday.

Fiji White won the Cup final thumping reigning champions Wardens Gold 26-0 at Nasau Park.

“I was pleased with the way the players performed on a very hard ground,” Ryan said.

“They stepped up on the second day and I was impressed.

“The Fiji White played a tough game against Wardens who provided a good challenge.”

Ryan will name 12 players for the Gold Coast Sevens and 12 players for the Oceania Sevens Championship in Queensland, Australia, tomorrow.

Meanwhile, tournament organiser Seresio Druguta said the two-day tournament was a success.

“We thank all the teams from Viti Levu for coming to Levuka to participate,”he said.

Wardens Gold upset Fiji Black 15-7 in the first Cup semifinal while Fiji White defeated Yasawa Tourism Stingers 24-5 in the second semifinal.

Fiji Black won third/fourth place playoff defeating Yasawa Stingers 35-7.

Fiji White received $3000 while Wardens Gold pocketed $1500.

Quarterfinal results: Fiji White 52 St John 0, Wardens 27 Tauranga 0, Fiji Black 21 Yamacia 14, Yasawa Tourism Stingers 7 Waqavuka One 5.
