Defending champions Police, Covenant, Fiji Bitter National Fire Authority (NFA) and Army qualified for the RC Manubhai Escott Shield semifinals.

This was after they scored wins in the quarterfinals at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Police survived after a hard fought 23-19 win against Lomai Green.NFA thrashed Pacific Agencies Harlequins 40-13, Covenant beat DHL Raiwaqa 16-9 while  Army came from behind to beat Fresh’et Navy 21-19.

The battle for the prestigious silverware in club rugby is set to be a thriller.

In the semifinals to be played on Friday at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, Police plays Army in the first semifinal while NFA takes on Covenant in the second semifinal.

Suva Rugby Union chairman John O’Connor said the semifinal will be tough.

“The semifinals should be exciting,” he said.

“Teams like Covenant and NFA have showed that they are ready for the challenge. Police and Army have also showed their class in the quarterfinal.”
