Man Hit Hard By Dry Spell

Hirdesh Prasad, who lives at Korovatu outside Labasa, has been suffering from the dry spell for two weeks now.
Mr Prasad said it has become unbearable without water every day.
He said they had to fetch for water for drinking, bathing and cooking purposes.
“We have a small stream near our house where we used to get water from but now it’s all dried up,” Mr Singh.
“We have been struggling with the hot season as this causes our well to dry up and now we cannot get any water,” he said.
“Water carts have been coming but this is not enough, now it’s empty again and yesterday we don’t know where to get water from.”
Divisional Planning Officer North Uraia Rainima said relevant authorities are monitoring the affected areas.
Meanwhile, in an earlier statement the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), chief executive officer Opetaia Ravai urged its customers and everyone in Fiji to become extremely water conscious during this drought season.
