Members of the Fiji Under-18 rugby team were reminded of the importance of dedication at a farewell church service at the Parish of the Holy Eucharist, Laucala Bay in Suva yesterday.

Delivering the sermon, St John’s College Cawaci principal, Father Ekuasi Manu told the players how dedication to their training would serve them well later in life. This was later reiterated by former national captain/ Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer Pio Bosco Tikoisuva who shared with the boys his journey and how dedication influenced his attitude to his work and life in general.

Team manager Mika Sela shared they were the first national sports team to have a farewell service at the parish.

“We were also fortunate to have Pio Bosco Tikoisuva here to share some wisdom with the players and I know his advice will serve them very well,” Sela said.

“Final preparations have been going well for us and everything is on par.

“We have a few injuries but nothing major to worry too much about and we’re looking forward to the tournament.”

The Fijians will take part in the U18 Tri Nations tournament with Australia and New Zealand.

Fiji plays Australia in its first game on Friday in Wellington.

The squad is scheduled to depart Marist Brothers High School at 5.30pm today for Nausori Airport enroute to Auckland, New Zealand.
