The President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, yesterday received back the Writ of Elections together with the names of the 50 parliamentarians.

This came at Government House from the chairman Electoral Commission, Chen Bunn Young.

Ratu Epeli in receiving the Writ of Elections said – “I thank you very much and I’m receiving this on behalf of the people of Fiji.”

He said he was proud of how the election was carried out and he thanked the Commission and the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem for their tremendous work.

Ratu Epeli also thanked the Minister Responsible for Elections Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

The handing over of the Writ of Elections signified the end of the election process and paving the way for the new Government to be formed.
