The Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem has expressed his excitement after the release of the final poll results yesterday.

This was after the Fijian Elections Office recorded a very low number of invalid votes compared to previous elections.

3714 invalid votes were recorded. This is 0.7 per cent of the total votes cast.

“I generally thank all the voters for turning out in numbers and taking us to 83.9 per cent,” Mr Saneem said.

He said the low number of invalid votes was an indication of a proactive voter awareness provided by his staffs.

“We had a task, it was a national task, we had a deadline.”

Mr Saneem said they would only be able to suggest improvement to the electoral system after conducting a thorough post election review which would enable them to make recommendations from.
