The Rotaract Club of Nadi hopes to improve the Nadi Dental Clinic so that it provides better service to the public.

The club chose the Nadi Dental Clinic in their next project because of an increase in the number of patients daily.

The club’s vice president, Lele Vereivalu said that the clinic had received very little assistance.

“What inspired us to push this project through was when a few of us went to have a look at the clinic.

“Since its opening in 2005, the clinic has had very little assistance with the up-keeping of the building and is in great need of a makeover so we began to make plans for project ‘Saving the Smiles of our Children’,” she said.

The club, which hosted a barrel night last Saturday to hep refurbish the Nadi Dental Clinic, is asking the public to assist in any way possible.

“We managed to raise $4000 from the barrel, lucky dips and donations.

“We plan to start handing over items to the clinic as we receive them from sponsors but our major task is to cater for the list that we have,” she said.

She said the club was hoping their help will provide a better working environment for the clinic’s staff. The clinic is located in the old wing of the Nadi Hospital and has eight staff members.

“Patients have increased in 2005 from 10 to 45 per day and we hope that with the project we will assist both patients and dentists in providing better services,” Ms Vereivalu said.

Some of the places that the club hopes to improve on are: re-painting the whole clinic, extension of the reception area, repair leaking roof and ceiling, wall mounted closed cabinets, curtains, air conditioning unit, computer and printer, tiling change and notice boards.
