First Aid Is For All

The Red Cross Crescent believes that First Aid is more than just learning a series of techniques.
It empowers volunteers and communities to apply this without discrimination.
The World First Aid Day global theme this year of ‘First Aid Heroes in Daily Emergencies and Disasters’, highlights the need for ‘first aid heroes’ who are prepared to save lives in disasters and daily emergencies. Disasters can strike anytime, anywhere and can affect anyone. First Aid training can prepare everyone, everywhere to save lives.
Fiji Red Cross director-general Filipe Nainoca says we are spreading the message that neither a cape nor superpowers are needed in order to be a hero.
“Be a hero. Save lives. First Aid is for everyone, everywhere,” Mr Nainoca said.
“We are all more or less vulnerable but we all have the capacity to learn and provide First Aid to save a life,” Mr Nainoca said.
First Aid is the core activity for almost all 189 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. There are nearly 115,000 active Red Cross Red Crescent First Aid trainers worldwide.
