Inter-Cities Invests In New And Better Buses

The Inter-Cities Bus Services Limited has invested more than US$250,000 (FJ$480,000) into two new buses.
The new buses imported from China will be added to the current fleet of eight buses servicing the Suva-Lautoka route on Kings Road.
The smaller bus caters for 35 passengers and the big coach fits 63 passengers and both are also available for charter or tour services.
HFC Bank is the main financier for the investment.
Inter-Cities managing director, Arun Lal, said business was good because of the policies of government.
“We thank the government for putting in place policies, that enabled us to invest and serve people better with our services,” Mr Lal said.
“We have invested in these new buses to better serve our targeted customers, the general public and meet their demands.
“Now with the state-of-the-art buses, it’s fully air conditioned with Wi-Fi connectivity for customers to enjoy internet for free while travelling with us.”
The company has scheduled both buses to start running from today.
Further plans
Mr Lal said they definitely will invest in more new buses in the future but not until after this year.
“There is no competition because the routes are licensed regulated so we are happy with the current routes we are servicing,” he said.
“We provide a personalised service; even I drive to keep in contact with passengers and get feedback from them on the service we provide.”
History of company
Inter-Cities used to operate in the name of Reliance Transport in 1940s and since 1988 it changed its name.
Currently the company is managed by Mr Lal, who is keeping the family transport business developing.
