Vaseva Sogari, 56, of Namadi Heights was glad to be part of the Trendy Treasure Show for the Relief Society Organisation and Young Women of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints yesterday.

“The show has helped unemployed women by allowing them to sell home-made food, cakes, food covers, bags, shirts, skirts among other things,” Ms Sogari said.

She has ten children and through the show she was able to sell things and earn money for her family.

“I have been doing this for 20 years and it is through this kind of programmes that we are able to revive and expand our income generating activities like baking, catering and handicrafts.”

Ms Sogari said it was encouraging to see women were able to save money through enhancing their skills.

Chief guest, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Sofia Akbar said women play a vital role in national development.

“To our mothers and young women it is crucial to always remind ourselves that we are unique, strong efficient, inter-dependent and have potential to be agents of positive change,” Ms Akbar said.

The show was held at the Latter Day Saints Primary School in Samabula.
