Fiji volleyball team manager Anasa Qio pleads for families and clubs to show their support for the players who will be representing Fiji.

“These players need financial support and  we need their families and their respective clubs to help out.

“We are also asking businesses if they could sponsor individual players.”

Each player is to give $1645 and the  team to collect $25,000. Fiji women manager Semaima Lagilagi also echoed the same sentiments and says they need funding.

“Funding is always an issue and hopefully the Government will support,” Lagilagi said.

Beach volleyball

Beach volleyball will select four players, comprising two men, two women and two officials to the games. Each player is to contribute $1600 and the team to raise a total of $9750.

Team manager Pauline Stephen Morris said they are planning on ways to raise funds.

“We are pleading with all friends, families to support us,”Morris said.

Karate

Fiji Karate team manager Laverine Qiolevu said they had tested their athletes during the Oceania Karate Championship in Suva.

“We expect tough competition from Tahiti and New Caledonia,” Qiolevu said.

“We won six gold medals in the 2011 Pacific Games and we do not want to put a lot of pressure on our athletes.”
