The Lewa Sewa Netters Fiji team sought divine guidance before their trip to New Zealand this Saturday at the Centenary Church in Suva yesterday.

In line with the sermon delivered by former president of the Methodist Church of Fiji Reverend Tomasi Kanailagi on faith, coach Moape Vu shared the benefit and expectations from the Pasifika Netball Tournament.

“We started preparing last year and I really feel that the girls have prepared very well,”Vu said.

“I believe that the girls are ready to compete with the teams from the other Pacific island countries.”

Meanwhile, Losana Derenalagi said they were planning ahead for the future of the girls.

“After this tour, they will finish primary school and move on to secondary school next year,”she said.

“It would be a real shame if they should fall out of touch with one another and all the hard work we had put in over the past year to get them to this level should go to waste.

“As parents we’ve  been discussing about starting up a club for the girls outside of school to keep them together as a team and keep them growing and continuing to compete together. For us parents in the West, that is the vision we have for the team.

“We’re also very thankful that they’ve been recognised for their hard work and commitment by getting invited to compete in the tournament. It’s great and we congratulate them all and the management and we look forward to them having a successful outing.”

The team is expected to present their itatau (traditional farewell) to President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House tomorrow.
