Fiji Booth Draws Interest

The Fiji booth at the Location event in Mumbai, India, attracted a large number of potential Bollywood movie producers and production houses.
A delegation led by Film Fiji is taking part in the two-day exhibition which connects international movie destination to producers from Bollywood.
The delegation consisted of Film Fiji, licensed Fiji Audio Visual agents, Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways and the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.
Fiji’s High Commissioner to India, Yogesh Karan, also attended Day Two of the exhibition.
Delegation leader and chairperson of Film Fiji Shaenaz Voss said: “We’ve been participating at Location events for six years now and the fact that Fiji’s film rebate and incentive rates are the best in the world is eliciting big interest.
“With a good delegation representing key Fiji stakeholder organisations with us, we have been able to convince more and more production houses to seriously consider using Fiji as a location in their upcoming projects. Destination competition for Bollywood international locations is very intense.”
She said other countries competing for attention were Thailand, Mauritius, Malaysia, Russia, Hungary and Oman.
“But we’re happy that Fiji holds its own niche here because of what we offer as a location and as incentives for Indian film-makers,” she said.
Meanwhile, Fiji and Thailand received commendation awards for continuous and consistent work with the Bollywood industry at the event.
Film Fiji also presented Esai Pictures and Maruti Films their final rebate approvals totalling FJ$2.12million for their films ‘Peralai’ and ‘Supermodel’, respectively, which were shot in Fiji.
