Marawai Will Be Sorely Missed, Says Chaudhry
Kini Marawai will be sorely missed by the Fiji Labour Party, says FLP leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
Mr Marawai, the FLP’s assistant general-secretary, passed away last Friday after a short illness.
“Kini was a liberal thinker with a deep commitment to democracy, the rule of law and social justice,’’ Mr Chaudhry said.
Mr Chaudhry praised his late colleague’s humility and amiable personality and his ability to mix readily with people from all walks of life.
“Despite not being in good health for the past two years, he participated actively and constructively in the affairs of the party,” he said.
Mr Marawai had been with FLP since 2007 and was a lawyer by profession. He started his career as a journalist before leaving to work as a high school teacher in Suva and Taveuni. He was then active as branch president of the Fijian Teachers Association in Taveuni and later the Suva East Branch.
