MV Nord Sincere Brings Gympsum

Bulk carrier, MV Nord Sincere, arrived on its maiden voyage to Fiji on Monday morning.
The Panama-registered vessel came in under the local agents, Williams & Goslings (Fiji) Limited.
MV Nord Sincere has a length and breadth of 169.37 metre by 27.19 metre.
The ship transported 43,000 tonnes of gypsums used in the process of manufacturing cement.
It has a crew of 22 members and will depart Fiji for Auckland, New Zealand on Friday.
Gypsum is a mineral and is hydrated calcium sulfate in chemical form. It plays a very important role in controlling the rate of hardening of the cement.
During the cement manufacturing process, upon the cooling of clinker, a small amount of gypsum is introduced during the final grinding process.
Gypsum is added to control the “setting of cement”.
If not added, the cement will set immediately after mixing of water leaving no time for concrete placing.
