Savusavu Jetty To Close Temporarily

The Savusavu Jetty in Vanua Levu will be temporarily closed. This is to allow the Fiji Roads Authority to carry out improvements to the steel ramp installed on top of the jetty last Christmas.
The work is being carried out at the request of the shipping companies to improve the operation and safety for the roll-on-roll-off ferries to load and unload vehicles.
Fiji Roads Authority has primarily taken into consideration the services that could be affected as a result of the temporary closure through consultations and arrangements.
These consultations were undertaken to minimise the interruption to shipping services in the area.
In line with the planned schedule, the Savusavu jetty will be closed from September 27 8am and will reopen on September 28 at 4pm. This would cater for a ship to berth before closing it off again at 8pm the same day.
The jetty will be open to the public for normal use on September 30 at 4am.
Overall, the jetty will be closed for four days and local company Zaid Engineering Limited will be carrying out this work for the Fiji Roads Authority.
