She may be a novice in the beauty and spa business but she is ready to take the leap of turning her passion into a business venture.

Single mother Mahzabeen Begum said her passion has driven her to set up her own business.

“I have always had the passion to have my own business and always wanted to be a beautician or a spa therapist,” Ms Begum said.

She developed her passion while working as an operations manager for Senikai Spas in Nadi for almost two years.

Ms Begum hopes to be an inspiration for single mothers to identify their strengths and venture into a business.

“Women have so much strength and if you do not step out of your comfort zone, you won’t know your capabilities,” she said.

Bliss Hair/Nails and Beauty Salon in Nadi kicked off its operations in January this year.

And while it is still too early to see a good turnover, Ms Begum is optimistic of building a stronger client base.

“Running a business has its own challenges but what sets you apart from your competitors are the services.

“Customers are always on the look-out for quality services for their money and we as business operators should keep that in mind,” she said.

“My employees are well trained and qualified providing the best services at a reasonable price.”

According to Ms Begum, the fashion and beauty industry is emerging in Fiji and has the potential to be an equal economy contributor in the near future.

She has thanked her friends for their support in the transition.
