In a bid to give back to their former school, ex-students of Adi Cakobau School are looking forward to the 2014 ‘RaNadi Grand Ball’ at the Sheraton Fiji Resort this Saturday.

ACSOG Nadi branch organising committee president, Adi Mitimiti Dreunamisimisi, confirmed 350 tickets have been sold at $150 each.

“The ball is of such a big magnitude and will be held for the first time in the country since the school inception in 1948,” Ms Dreunamisimisi said.

“It is for first time in this style of ball to be hosted by Nadi branch. We had discussed the idea during the Nadi branch AGM and we wanted to take on the challenge.”

Former scholars from as far as England, Lebanon, Abu Dhabi, Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand will attend the event.

“We wanted to do something very unique as we know that we have over 60,000 alumni all over the globe and Nadi have exceeded our target needed to collect this year,” she said.

“But it will be a great time to reminisce those days on what.”

Ms Dreunamisimisi said the takings from the event would be channelled to the school projects.

“We also have incentives for the night as fundraising lottery that will be drawn on the night as all for the upgrade of the school projects.”

The President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, will be chief guest for the evening fittingly because of his links to the Cakobau kinfolk.

The door will open from 5pm and the official event begins as 6.30pm.
