Local Designer to Showcase Collection on Fiji Day in Aust

Local fashion designer Bayvick Lawrence has continued to stamp his mark in the fashion world through his creative designs.
The 20-year-old of Lomanikoro, Bau will showcase his stunning Spring/Summer Collection 2014 during the Fiji Day celebrations in Sydney, Australia.
Mr Lawrence said the prints on this collection are mainly tribal, fused with tropical colours blended with his signature feature for this season which is the bird of paradise flower.
“I chose to feature this flower because it reminds me of my early childhood with my grandmother who had a passion in gardening; I always loved the bird of paradise flower while growing up in Fiji,” he said.
“There is something about it. It always appeal to me as an elegant and poised flower like a gay peacock,” Mr Lawrence said.
“Our print is a very original artwork and was printed in Sydney.
“My new range is very contemporary, modern, elegant, chique and casual at the same time.
“Modern edgy, chic, elegant pieces that can be worn for corporate, church, casual, romantic dinner dates on hot summer nights, uber chique urban clubbing and nightlife depending on the mood or occasion you choose to wear it too,” Mr Lawrence said.
He said his target audiences are mainly the youths, teens and grownups who love their urban, classy and conservative style yet dynamic and daring to be different with their indigenous identity.
He added a modern kaiviti beauty will mostly find this collection appealing and relatable and will definitely get a sense of ownership with these prints, style and patterns.
“Above all, I plan to take our island dentity into a greater scale and into the international fashion arena with this new turn I’m heading.”
