The Director of the National Disaster Management Office, Manasa Tagicakibau says 17,690,820 litres of water has been distributed Fiji wide at a cost of $1,050,957.00.

In a meeting with the National Steering Committee on Emergency Water Response on Wednesday, he briefed the committee on how the ministry was responding to the current dry spell.

Mr Tagicakibau said communities affected continued to be assisted.

“We continue to deliver water to affected communities, schools and government stations including the maritime islands,” he said.

While there is still no sign of immediate relief, Mr Tagicakibau is calling on the public to use water wisely and to store water as rainfall was experienced in some parts of country this week.
