Thirteen senior Fiji Navy non-commissioned officers graduated from a three- week leadership and management training yesterday that ended at Togalevu Naval Base, outside Lami.
Naval training officer, Lieutenant- Commander Alfred Fox said the training was a promotional course aimed at senior non-commissioned officers.
“These officers are at the middle-management level of the organisation and it is very important for them to undergo the training since they will be the ones giving out tasks to our junior officers,” Lieutenant-Commander Fox said.
He said the training would enhance their leadership skills.
“To put structure in the way they make decisions so that it streamlines the work that we carry out,” he said.
Training participant, 38- year-old chief petty officer Anand Prasad said the training was very resourceful.
“It gives us more knowledge on how to lead and manage effectively. It will help us to be more productive with our work,” CPO Prasad said.
Another participant, 35- year old Petty Officer, Penaia Latianara said the training was a refresher which would help improve their performance.
“It was very helpful and will be of great assistance to me in the long run with the Navy. It will help us stay in line with the objectives of the organisation seeing that the work we carry out is in line with what we are required to do,” PO Latianara said.
