Farmers in the Northern Division breathed a collective sigh of relief after experiencing intermittent rain spells in the past few days.
Although the rainfall was not sufficient for farming, some farmers said it was enough to alleviate the adverse effects of the recent dry weather.
Savita Devi of Sinu farm in Savusavu, said they desperately needed more rain to help them farm.
“We had some rain since Monday but it was not enough to get things back to normal. It just brought farmers some relief.”
However, the 31-year old lady was happy with the rainfall, little as it was, during the last few days.
“Since then, I’ve planted cabbages, tomatoes and tubua on my farm now, I think the rainfall was good for the crop to grow,” she said.
Mrs Devi said she was praying for more rain so she could plant other vegetables.
“It wasn’t heavy but just enough to give some relief to the farmers from the dry weather being experienced for some time,” she said.
