The Suva Bookshop has advised customers that they have been temporarily relocated to the Fiji National Provident Fund’s Downtown Boulevard complex.

Suva Bookshop – shop manager, Shahida Begum said they had moved to the new location two weeks ago and have now adjusted to the new environment.

“We want our customers to know that we are now based at FNPF’s Downtown Boulevard, Plaza One, Level One. We have closed our shop at Greig Street pending construction works to the proposed new building.”

Suva Bookshop has been operating for the last 72 years with a second retail and warehouse outlet in Samabula.

Ms Begum said for the past 32 years, their main shop that was based at Greig Street was quite popular, from all business customers and people from all walks of life.

“Despite the relocation of our store, we assure our customers that we still provide the same services as before, nothing has changed.”

Businesses operating from the FNPF-owned building on Greig Street in Suva were issued notices to vacate the premises earlier this year.

This comes as FNPF plans to demolish the existing structure and build one which is higher off the ground because of the constant inflow of water from the nearby Nubukalou Creek into the shops during high tide.

Ms Begum said they were advised that the building would be demolished and a replacement structure would be completed in 18 months time.

“We intend to move back to Greig Street after the completion of the new building structure,” she added.
