Fijians Yet To Be Tested

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team finished on top of Pool B after a 34-0 walloping of Cook Islands to finish undefeated in the first day of the Oceania Sevens Championship yesterday.
Head coach Ben Ryan believes they have yet to be tested in the competition.
“I’m happy the way the players have been playing but they have yet to play quality opposition,” Ryan said.
The side thumped Tahiti 64-0 in their first game leading 31-0 at halftime.
In their second game the Fijians walloped their Melanesian brothers from Solomon Islands 36-0 after leading 17-0 at halftime.
Telecom Fijiana
The Telecom Fijiana side got off to a strong start with a 38-0 thumping over Papua New Guinea in Noosa, Australia yesterday.
The Iliesa Tanivula-coached side dominated all phases of the game and enjoyed most possessions as they led 19-0 at halftime against the Elenoa Kunatuba coached side.
The Fijiana lost their second game against hosts Australia 5-24. Fiji managed to put up the first points through Timaima Ragisa.
But they failed to continue the momentum as the women in gold dominated in both defence and attacking.
New Zealand was also too strong for the Telecom Fijiana side to handle as they lost 7-24. Fiji will play their final pool matches against Tonga at 10am, Cook Islands at 1pm and Samoa at 3.20pm.
