Former national and Ba rep Akuila Rova has given the thumbs up to the initiative  by the Fiji Football Association in hosting the 2nd  RC Manubhai/APCO International Veteran tournament at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.
Rova, 48, played an integral part in the USA Masters team who made their debut in the tournament on Thursday.
“It is a great idea to give something back to former reps who have either played at national or district level,” said Rova.
“Most of the time after retirement we veterans turn to be lazy and unhealthy lifestyle. This is good to get players together to stay healthy.
The Nalotu, Yawe, Kadavu native departed Fiji in 1997 to play semi-professional football in the US for a club in Orange country in Los Angles and lives in Seattle, Washington now.
“We have been in the States for last 15 years and it is great to come here and meet players you have played  with or against in the last 20 years or so.”
Rova made his debut for Ba in 1982 while a Form Five student at Xavier College.
“I was blessed to play with the local household names like Josaia Tubuna, Semi Tabaiwalu and Inia Bola,”he said.
“We do really have to support the idea of giving back.
Rova was member of the national team that won the inaugural gold medal in the 1991 Pacific Games (formerly SPG).
