Continue Good Work: Basundra

While teachers are commended for their efforts in improving education in the country, they have been urged to continue with the good performance.
The acting Permanent Secretary for Education, Basundra Kumar,  urged teachers during Fiji Teachers Union Southern Zone celebration yesterday at the Rishikul Sanatan College in Nasinu to continue the good work they had been doing.
“With the theme, ‘Invest In Your Future and Invest In Your Teachers’, the Ministry of Education recognises teachers,” Ms Kumar said.
“We understand that no resource can replace teachers in the classroom.
“We can have laptops, have multimedia projectors, eBooks, etc, but teachers are important to have in the classroom with the children because they are the facilitators. They move the knowledge,” Ms Kumar said.
She wished every teacher in Fiji a happy World Teachers’ Day.
“While we recognise their efforts, there’s an expectation from the ministry and we the teacher administrator, want performance.
“They are well paid for the job, and they should continue with the performance that they have.”
She said the Ministry of Education wanted to improve underperforming schools in Fiji.
